China Has ‘Hurt Feelings’ Over Bjork - NY Times
By Paul Midler | March 8, 2008
A headline in the New York Times art section on Mar 8 read: “China Hurt By Bjork”. That’s an interesting one. Can a singer on the Z-list take a superpower down a notch with just a song? For those who didn’t catch thew news, during her recent Shanghai performance, the Icelandic singer incorporated a brief political statement about Tibet. I asked a couple of Chinese if they felt their feelings had been hurt. Their only comment was: “Who is Bjork?”

I’m still waiting for the Xinhua headline that reads “Chinese people’s feelings hurt by lack of due process, of transparency and of freedom to choose who represents them”

Don’t we all know by now that China is delicate, weak and easily hurt ? Stop staring at her.

When China says “China” it only refers to the Chinese boys down at ZhongNanHai…not it’s people–the majority of which are eating dirt sandwiches out in the countryside and earning a buck a day–most of which probably think Mao Zedong is still the President of China…

When minorities complain about their condition, Bush and Cheney can say that their feelings have been hurt. Governments don’t have feelings. Americans would laugh at the idea. It is a bull***t what China is trying to do on Tibet.
